I've posted it here, in brief: What I Learned While Loving My Mother Through Terminal Cancer My mother, Velma Pankey, died of breast cancer on January 27, 2009. She was 81 years old. Her cancer battle, nearly ten years long, had run a complete course – diagnosis, mastectomy, chemotherapy, radiation, remission, return bout, lesions growth and bleed-outs, metastasis into the bone, and morphine unto death.
